Friends of Burney Falls and Friends of Castle Crags are the two programs of the McArthur Burney Falls Interpretive Association. We provide education and interpretation at McArthur Burney Falls State Park and Castle Crags State Park. Our programs highlight each Park's natural and cultural elements. Burney Falls offers hiking trails, flora and fauna, camping, cabins and Lake Britton. Castle Crags offers easy to strenuous hikes, spectacular Cascade views, world-class fishing, and camping More About Us Funds donated support Interpretive and educational activities, including guided hikes, Junior Ranger programs, campfire and craft activities, sing-a-longs and group games. At Burney Falls, our renovated Visitor Center provides information about the geology, flora and fauna, cultural history and recreational opportunities in the park and the surrounding area. Our annual Heritage Day celebration in October offers weaving, cross-cut sawing, branding, candle-making, knife and tomahawk throwing, pine-doll making, apple cider pressing and Dutch Oven cooking. Mountain Men and old-time fiddlers provide historical entertainment. The park has instituted a birding program, that includes guided bird identification walks, loaner binoculars plus a library of information. In addition, we have supported new native plants around the Visitor Center, with information about the plantings available for visitors. At Castle Crags, funds support campfire presentations, adventure day packs for visiting kids and families, and improved interpretive trail guide and visitor information
You'll get free newsletters providing you with news and information about what's going on at the park and with the Board of Directors.
